Cast glass 42 X17 X 12 cm

|
I have been working with glass for 20 years. After learning the techniques of stained glass. I established my own business designing and making panels for private residences and businesses. I have extensive experience in the architectural aspects of glass. My desire to further explore the possibilities of glass, prompted me to enrol in a degree course at PCAD. This has led me to explore other methods of working with glass, mainly casting the glass in to moulds and working with more sculptural forms.
This current body of work has been inspired by cliffs from the North East of Scotland, to the South West of England. The profiles of forms and faces occurring in the texture are universally recognizable, suggesting figures emerging into or out of the rock forms and embarking on a journey.
Working with cast glass gives me the opportunity to explore the properties of glass, light and time using transparency, refraction and refection to create an inner world within the outer form.
